Senior News

TO ALL MILLIKAN SENIORS AND THEIR PARENTS;

This senior information packet is being made available to assist you in year-end planning. Please keep this packet for reference. You may also call the Activities Office for any updates or clarifications.

REQUIRED ACTIVITIES AND/OR EXPENSES:

  1. COMMENCEMENT/GRADUATION TICKETS

Participation in Commencement is the only required activity. Commencement will be held Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Veterans’ Stadium. All tickets will be distributed on June 11 on the softball field. Children age 5 and above are required to have a ticket. Each student will be given 6 free tickets. Up to 6 additional extra tickets may be purchased for $10 EACH at the banker’s office beginning April 8 ending May 10, 2013. Additional tickets beyond 12 total for each student must be decided upon on an individual basis. Parents can email Bari Stevens-Chapman @ bstevens@lbschools.net with requests starting April 2, 2012.

  1. CAPS AND GOWNS

Caps and Gowns are the required dress for the Commencement Ceremony. Josten’s will be in senior government classes on Dec 3 and 4 distributing information on cap and gowns and announcements. They have announcements for high school graduation and college acceptance.

On June 11th, caps and gowns will be distributed on the softball field (behind the 800 building) from 10:00 a. m to 12:00 p.m. Students who did not pre-order must purchase Caps and Gowns at this time for $60.00 cash on the softball field. (Due to late purchase, all sizes may not be available.)

  1. FINES/DEMERITS

Please check with the banker to see if you have a fine. Administrators will have current demerits lists.. If a senior’s name appears on the list at that time, he/she will not be allowed to: (1) purchase a Prom ticket, (2) receive his/her Cap & Gown, (3) receive his/her diploma, (4) receive graduation tickets-until the fine has been paid or demerits have been cleared. Please check the list and clear up any problems as early as possible!!!

USEFUL INFORMATION:

  1. DIPLOMAS AND GRADUATION CREDITS

During the Commencement Ceremony each senior will be handed a diploma case. Diplomas will be passed out at Millikan High School Counseling Department June 17-21 from 9-11 am and 1-3 pm daily. Seniors must present a picture ID and return all graduation stoles including CSF, AP, and NHS to receive your actual diploma. Seniors with fewer than 210 credits will not graduate and will not be able to participate in any senior activities- including Prom, Senior Picnic, Recognition Night, or Commencement.

Your Academic GPA (grades 9-12) determines your honor status at graduation. Students with 3.0 graduate with honors, a 3.5+ graduates with high honors and a 4.0 with the highest honors.

  1. TRANSCRIPTS

Seniors who will be attending any college will need final transcripts to out in early July when grades are processed.
